I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “Fast” .

Gen 20:18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech,
because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

Jdg 4:21 Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent,
and took an hammer in her hand,
and went softly unto him,
and smote the nail into his temples,
and fastened it into the ground:
for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

Jdg 16:11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes
that never were occupied,
then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

Rth 2:8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter?
Go not to glean in another field,
neither go from hence,
but abide here fast by my maidens:

Rth 2:21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also,
Thou shalt keep fast by my young men,
until they have ended all my harvest.

Rth 2:23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz
to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest;
and dwelt with her mother in law.

2Sa 12:21 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done?
thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive;
but when the child was dead,
thou didst rise and eat bread.

2Ki 6:32 But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him;
and  the king sent a man from before him:
but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders,
See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head?
look, when the messenger cometh,
shut the door, and hold him fast at the door:
is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?

2Ch 20:3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD,
and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

Ezr 5:8 Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea,
to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones,
and timber is laid in the walls,
and this work goeth fast on,
and prospereth in their hands.

Ezr 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava,
that we might afflict ourselves before our God,
to seek of him a right way for us,
and for our little ones,
and for all our substance.

Est 4:16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan,
and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise;
and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law:
and if I perish, I perish.

Job 2:3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job,
that there is none like him in the earth,
a perfect and an upright man,
one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

although thou movedst me against him,
to destroy him without cause.

wilt thou call this a fast,
and an acceptable day to the LORD?
