I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “except”.

Genesis 31:42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham,
and the fear of Isaac, had been with me,
surely thou hadst sent me away now empty.
God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands,
and rebuked thee yesternight.

Genesis 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh.
And he said, I will not let thee go,
except thou bless me.

Genesis 42:15 Hereby ye shall be proved:
By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence,
except your youngest brother come hither.
