I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “confounded”.

2Ki 19:26 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power,
they were dismayed and confounded;
they were as the grass of the field,
and as the green herb,
as the grass on the housetops,
and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

Job 6:20 They were confounded because they had hoped;
they came thither,
and were ashamed.

Psa 22:5 They cried unto thee,

Psa 35:4 Let them be confounded
and put to shame that seek after my soul:
let them be turned back
