I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “rest”.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 27:49 The rest said, Let be,
let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
Mar 6:31 And he said unto them,
Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place,
and rest a while:
for there were many coming and going,
and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Luk 10:6 And if the son of peace be there,
your peace shall rest upon it:
if not, it shall turn to you again.
Joh 11:13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death:
but they thought that
he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
Act 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice,
and my tongue was glad;
moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this,
they were pricked in their heart,
and said unto Peter
and to the rest of the apostles,
Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Act 5:13 And of the rest durst
no man join himself to them:
but the people magnified them.
Act 9:31 Then had the churches rest
throughout all Judaea
and Galilee and Samaria,
and were edified;
and walking in the fear of the Lord,
and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost,
were multiplied.
Rom 11:7 What then?
Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for;
but the election hath obtained it,
and the rest were blinded
1Co 7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord:
If any brother hath a wife that believeth not,
and she be pleased to dwell with him,
let him not put her away.
1Co 11:34 And if any man hunger,
let him eat at home;
that ye come not together unto condemnation.
And the rest will I set in order when I come.
2Co 2:13 I had no rest in my spirit,
because I found not Titus my brother:
but taking my leave of them,
I went from thence into Macedonia.
2Co 12:9 And he said unto me,
My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us,
when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed
from heaven with his mighty angels,
Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place
of the seventh day on this wise,
and God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore
a rest to the people of God.
1Pe 4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time
in the flesh to the lusts of men,
but to the will of God.
Rev 2:24 But unto you I say,
and unto the rest in Thyatira,
as many as have not this doctrine,
and which have not known the depths of Satan,
as they speak;
I will put upon you none other burden.
Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had
each of them six wings about him;
and they were full of eyes within:
and they rest not day and night,
saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,
which was,
and is,
and is to come.
Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them;
and it was said unto them,
that they should rest yet for a little season,
until their fellowservants also and their brethren,
that should be killed as they were,
should be fulfilled.
Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men
which were not killed by these plagues
yet repented not of the works of their hands,
that they should not worship devils,
and idols of gold,
and silver,
and brass,
and stone,
and of wood:
which neither can see,
nor hear,
nor walk:
Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment
ascendeth up for ever and ever:
and they have no rest day nor night,
who worship the beast and his image,
and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Rev 14:13 And I heard a voice
from heaven saying unto me,
Write, Blessed are the dead
which die in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours;
and their works do follow them.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again
until the thousand years were finished.
This is the first resurrection.
