I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “laid”.

Mat 3:10 And now also the axe is laid
unto the root of the trees:
therefore every tree which bringeth not forth
good fruit is hewn down,
and cast into the fire.

Mat 8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house,
he saw his wife’s mother laid,
and sick of a fever.
