Is it a time to receive money,
and to receive garments,
and oliveyards,
and vineyards,
and sheep,
and oxen,
and menservants,
and maidservants?

2Ki 12:4 And Jehoash said to the priests,
All the money of the dedicated things
that is brought into the house of the LORD,
even the money of every one that passeth the account,
the money that every man is set at,
and all the money that cometh into any man’s heart
to bring into the house of the LORD,

2Ki 12:7 Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest,
and the other priests, and said unto them,
Why repair ye not the breaches of the house?
now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance,
but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

2Ki 12:8 And the priests consented to receive
no more money of the people,
neither to repair the breaches of the house.

2Ki 12:9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest,
and bored a hole in the lid of it,
and set it beside the altar,
on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD:
and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money
that was brought into the house of the LORD.

2Ki 12:10 And it was so, when they saw that
there was much money in the chest,
that the king’s scribe and the high priest came up,
and they put up in bags,
and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

2Ki 12:11 And they gave the money, being told,

and stayed not there in the land.

2Ki 22:7 Howbeit there was no reckoning made
with them of the money that was delivered
into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.

2Ki 22:9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king,
and brought the king word again, and said,
Thy servants have gathered the money
that was found in the house,
and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work,
that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.

2Ki 23:35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh;
but he taxed the land to give the money
according to the commandment of Pharaoh:
he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land,
of every one according to his taxation,
to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.

2Ch 24:5 And he gathered together the priests and the Levites,
and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah,
and gather of all Israel money to repair
the house of your God from year to year,
and see that ye hasten the matter.
Howbeit the Levites hastened it not.

2Ch 24:11 Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought
unto the king’s office by the hand of the Levites,
and when they saw that there was much money,
the king’s scribe and the high priest’s officer came
and emptied the chest,
and took it,
and carried it to his place again.
Thus they did day by day,
and gathered money in abundance.

2Ch 24:14 And when they had finished it,
they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada,
whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD,
even vessels to minister,
and to offer withal,
and spoons,
and vessels of gold and silver.
And they offered burnt offerings
in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.

2Ch 34:9 And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest,
they delivered the money that was brought
into the house of God, which the Levites
that kept the doors had gathered of
the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim,
and of all the remnant of Israel,
and of all Judah and Benjamin;
and they returned to Jerusalem.

that was brought into the house of the LORD,
Hilkiah the priest found
a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.

that was found in the house of the LORD,
and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers,
and to the hand of the workmen.

Ezr 3:7 They gave money also unto the masons,
and to the carpenters;
and meat,
and drink,
and oil, unto them of Zidon,
and to them of Tyre,
to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa,
according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.

Ezr 7:17 That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks,
rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings,
and offer them upon the altar of
the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

Neh 5:4 There were also that said,
We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute,
and that upon our lands and vineyards.

Neh 5:10 I likewise, and my brethren,
and my servants,
might exact of them money and corn:
I pray you, let us leave off this usury.

Neh 5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them,
even this day, their lands,
their vineyards, their oliveyards,
and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money,
and of the corn, the wine,
and the oil, that ye exact of them.

Est 4:7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him,
and of the sum of the money
that Haman had promised
to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews,
to destroy them.

Lucre / Filthy Lucre, . . .

Mango-grove, Sardana, UP-India“And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear  your lies? ” – Eze 13:19

I am no preacher, but, am a sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” God gave me the following verses in the context of “Lucre and Filthy Lucre” from the Book of Life (The Holy Bible-King James Version).

Lucre Means -
I have used a tool “WordWeb” (it is free) and it gives the meaning as :
1.  Informal term for money
2. The excess of revenues over outlays in a given period of time.

Synonyms :  Boodle, bread, cabbage, clams, dinero, dough, earnings,
gelt, kale, lettuce, loot, moola, moolah, net, net income, net profit, pelt, profit, profits,
scratch, shekels, simoleons, sugar, wampum.

1Sa-1. And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
1Sa-2. Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah:  they were judges in Beersheba.

1Sa-8:3 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

1Ti-3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1Ti-3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4. One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5. (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6. Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

1Ti-3:8 Likewise  must the deacons  be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

9. Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

Tit-1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

 8. But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9. Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Tit-1:11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

1Pe-5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight  thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3. Neither as being lords over  God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
